      What can a microscope tell us about hair loss?

The hair to the left has a sebum cholesterol buildup. This is typical with a follicular plug. Sebum and cholesterol build up and shed into the follicle where it can slowly narrow the tiny openings causing the hair to thin. Cholesterol and sebum can be removed from the scalp if it is determined to be your problem.

Sulfanates and special deep cleansing shampoos clean out the plug of cholesterol and sebum that causes hair follicles to plug, thus revitalizing the follicle to produce a thicker looking, healthier hair once more. These shampoos and sulfanates also help to cleanse away the derivative of testosterone-dihyrotestosterone. Sulfanates are not the answer for DHT but do help to cleanse the DHT away. An enzyme blocker is typically the best means to resolve DHT.

The picture to the left shows a hair with improper nutrition. This is a hereditary trait but is not associated with DHT. Your hair begins growing at the papilla. Capillaries contained in the papilla nourish the hair with a blood supply to each reproducing hair shaft. When they are stimulated by androgen (sex) hormones, especially the male hormone testosterone, follicle cells convert important amino acids from your body into keratin - the protein that forms each hair strand as it grows from the follicle. B vitamins like biotin, PABA, niacin, folic acid and other energizers are essential nutrients supplied to the follicle cells as they produce keratin-rich strands of hair. Slow growing, loss, thinning and falling hair can all be a result of lack of hair nutrition. This is treated with energizer vitamins delivered to the hair. Important to note that this is not malnutrition in the body itself. This is a genetic trait and causes a shortened lifecycle. Taking vitamins alone is typically not enough to solve this problem.
